Komodo Dragons

Antartica, Europe, America, Asia, and Australia are continents. Australia is the only country that takes up a whole continent. Australia has many large dessert, some coastal rain forest, and the world's largest coral reef. The reef is called the Great Barrier Reef. It's 1,200 miles long and it's on the northeast coast. Australia is surrounded by the Indian Ocean, Coral Sea, and Tasman Sea. Kangaroos, kookaburras, and dingoes are just a few of the unsual animals taht live in Australia. Queensland, Victoria, and New South Wales are three of Australia's states. Queensland is the size of California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas combined. Australia has diamonds, gold, cooper, and other gems and minerals. ** Elephants **
Elephants are not just huge, heavy, and clumsy. They can do amazing things. Everyone knows that elephants use their trunks to hold things, takes up water, and throw dust. Siri, a zoo elephant, held a rock in her trunk, scratch it on the floor, and drew designs. The zookeeper gave Siri a pencil and a paper, and she kept drawing. Elephants eat grass shrubs branches, leaves, bark roots, and fruit. Sometimes they knock down trees, rip off their bark, and dig up their roots. Wild elephants eat 600-800 pounds of food each day.
Elephants' sharp tusks, long trunks, and crushing feet can be dangerous. Elephants can be also intelligent, protective, and gentle. Once, a baby get hurt. The herd followed the leader, found a park ranger, and led the ranger back to the baby elephant.
Animals' Language
Hi! Did you know that many animals have their own language? Dolphins "talk" by making clicking sounds. A dolphin can make as many as 700 clicks in one second. Bees "talk" by flying in patterns like dancing. They tell other bees where to find flowers.
Some animals even "speak" in ways that human might understand. Have you ever noticed that dogs have different barks? A dog barks one way when someone is at the door and another way when it is hurt.
A gorilla named Koko has gone one step further. She actually talk to humans. She also had learned sign languages. When a kitten bit Koko, she made signs to say, " Teeth visit gorilla". It is not the way you would say it, but you know what she meant, "Ouch",

Once there was a miller who was poor, but who had a beautiful daughter. Now it happened that he had to go and speak to the king, and in order to make himself appear important he said to him, "I have a daughter who can spin straw into gold."
The king said to the miller, "That is an art which pleases me well, if your daughter is as clever as you say, bring her to-morrow to my palace, and I will put her to the test."
And when the girl was brought to him he took her into a room which was quite full of straw, gave her a spinning-wheel and a reel, and said, "Now set to work, and if by to-morrow morning early you have not spun this straw into gold during the night, you must die."
Thereupon he himself locked up the room, and left her in it alone. So there sat the poor miller's daughter, and for the life of her could not tell what to do, she had no idea how straw could be spun into gold, and she grew more and more frightened, until at last she began to weep.
But all at once the door opened, and in came a little man, and said, "Good evening, mistress miller, why are you crying so?"
"Alas," answered the girl, "I have to spin straw into gold, and I do not know how to do it."
"What will you give me," said the manikin, "if I do it for you?"
"My necklace," said the girl.
The little man took the necklace, seated himself in front of the wheel, and whirr, whirr, whirr, three turns, and the reel was full, then he put another on, and whirr, whirr, whirr, three times round, and the second was full too. And so it went on until the morning, when all the straw was spun, and all the reels were full of gold.
By daybreak the king was already there, and when he saw the gold he was astonished and delighted, but his heart became only more greedy. He had the miller's daughter taken into another room full of straw, which was much larger, and commanded her to spin that also in one night if she valued her life. The girl knew not how to help herself, and was crying, when the door opened again, and the little man appeared, and said, "What will you give me if I spin that straw into gold for you?"
"The ring on my finger," answered the girl.
The little man took the ring, again began to turn the wheel, and by morning had spun all the straw into glittering gold.
The king rejoiced beyond measure at the sight, but still he had not gold enough, and he had the miller's daughter taken into a still larger room full of straw, and said, "You must spin this, too, in the course of this night, but if you succeed, you shall be my wife."
Even if she be a miller's daughter, thought he, I could not find a richer wife in the whole world.
When the girl was alone the manikin came again for the third time, and said, "What will you give me if I spin the straw for you this time also?"
"I have nothing left that I could give," answered the girl.
"Then promise me, if you should become queen, to give me your first child."
Who knows whether that will ever happen, thought the miller's daughter, and, not knowing how else to help herself in this strait, she promised the manikin what he wanted, and for that he once more spun the straw into gold.
And when the king came in the morning, and found all as he had wished, he took her in marriage, and the pretty miller's daughter became a queen.
A year after, she brought a beautiful child into the world, and she never gave a thought to the manikin. But suddenly he came into her room, and said, "Now give me what you promised."
The queen was horror-struck, and offered the manikin all the riches of the kingdom if he would leave her the child. But the manikin said, "No, something alive is dearer to me than all the treasures in the world."
Then the queen began to lament and cry, so that the manikin pitied her.
"I will give you three days, time," said he, "if by that time you find out my name, then shall you keep your child."
So the queen thought the whole night of all the names that she had ever heard, and she sent a messenger over the country to inquire, far and wide, for any other names that there might be. When the manikin came the next day, she began with Caspar, Melchior, Balthazar, and said all the names she knew, one after another, but to every one the little man said, "That is not my name."
On the second day she had inquiries made in the neighborhood as to the names of the people there, and she repeated to the manikin the most uncommon and curious. Perhaps your name is Shortribs, or Sheepshanks, or Laceleg, but he always answered, "That is not my name."
On the third day the messenger came back again, and said, "I have not been able to find a single new name, but as I came to a high mountain at the end of the forest, where the fox and the hare bid each other good night, there I saw a little house, and before the house a fire was burning, and round about the fire quite a ridiculous little man was jumping, he hopped upon one leg, and shouted -
'To-day I bake, to-morrow brew,
the next I'll have the young queen's child.
Ha, glad am I that no one knew
that Rumpelstiltskin I am styled.'"
You may imagine how glad the queen was when she heard the name. And when soon afterwards the little man came in, and asked, "Now, mistress queen, what is my name?"
At first she said, "Is your name Conrad?"
"No."
"Is your name Harry?"
"No."
"Perhaps your name is Rumpelstiltskin?"
"The devil has told you that! The devil has told you that," cried the little man, and in his anger he plunged his right foot so deep into the earth that his whole leg went in, and then in rage he pulled at his left leg so hard with both hands that he tore himself in two.

*Gloria Estefan*
Gloria was a famous American singer. She was professionally called Gloria Estefan, but her full name is actually Gloria Maria Milagrosa Fajardo Garcia de Estefan. She her parents are Gloria and José Manuel Fajardo and born on the 1st September of 1957. She is the first daughter in her family, so she had a little sister; Rebecca (or Becky). They are all immigrants from Cuba. In USA, they lived in Miami.
Her dad, José, was a war officer in Cuba. He ever joined a war in Cuba. After the war ends, he went back to Miami. But he was ill. Gloria, her mom, and Becky took care of him. But finally, José died.
Gloria was now on college. She joined a group band. It’s the Miami Sound Machine. In the band, she met a man named Emilio. Emilio wanted to marry her. But she decided that she would marry him if she finished her college. Her mom and Emilio agreed, and then he married Gloria. Then, she delivered a son. She named her son Nayib.
Gloria sang the pop Latin songs. So she was called as “The Queen of Pop Latin” and she’s becoming famous. She had lots and lots of fans around the world.
When she was famous, she got a bus accident during the family trip. She thought that she couldn’t perform again. But because of her fans’ support, she didn’t gave up and try to perform again. Then, she became famous again.
After the bus accident, she delivered another baby. She named her daughter Emily. So, she has two children; Nayib and Emily.
Until now she was still famous, singing her pop Latin songs.

One night, Stacy was about to rearrange her bed when she wants to sleep. Suddenly, she found a magic wand under the pillow. Stacy said, “Wow, a magic wand! I wonder what spell make it work” Then, she holds the wand, point it to a trash, and said, “Magic wand, make it gone. Come I call, throw them all…”
POOF!!!
The trash was gone! Stacy was very thankful. She decided to bring that wand to school. Then, she prayed and slept.
COOK-A-DOODLE-OOOO
It was morning already. She picked her towel and goes bathing. Then, she took her bag and shoes downstairs to the dining room. She ate her morning feast. And then she waits for her brother, Louis, in the living room reading a book.
That book tells about a fairy and her magic wand. “Oh! The magic wand! I almost forgot to bring it to school,” she said in her heart. So then, she went up to her bedroom, took the pillow and… The wand was lost! It could be anywhere by now! Stacy was disappointed. Then she went downstairs and went to school because Louis was ready now.
The school ends at 2 pm. Her mom had waited for her and Louis. She went home sadly, because she hadn’t brought the magic wand to school.
It was night already. She rearranged her bed, changed her wearing into the blue nightdress, and prayed. She prayed so that she could find the magic wand. She slept, but there was something hard behind the pillow. She took the pillow, and it was actually the wand! How can it be? She said in her heart.
She took the wand and put it on a box. She turned on the lamp and walked to the wardrobe. She meant to place it there so that no one would steal it again. She placed it under her dresses.
She opens the box again but the wand was missing! She touches the inner side of the box, and she felt the magic wand. “Oh, the wand is too BRIGHT! That’s why it’s always missing during the day and appears during the night!” she said proudly. “Okay, I’ll put it in the box. So, I won’t forget about it again.” Stacy continues. The she climbed to her bed and slept.

Stacy woke up very early in the morning. She took her towel and went to the bathroom. She wears her checkers uniform and went down stairs. She ate her breakfast and waited for Louis. Then, she continued her book about the fairy and the magic wand. The magic wand! She said in her heart. Then she went up stairs and took her box. She opens the box and….. Voila! The wand was missing. “Alright, I think the magic wand is destined not for me” Stacy said quietly.
